La Vidaes Sueño

Life is a dream. Colombia is the proof.

A private, eco-conscious journey through the Colombia most people spend a lifetime imagining but never truly find. Small groups. Extraordinary places. A host who was born here.

What this is

There are places the world has heard of
but not yet truly met.

Colombia is one of them. Not because it is inaccessible, but because arriving at the real version of it requires knowing where to look, who to trust, and how to move through it without performing the role of tourist. La Vida es Sueño is built for people who want the difference.

This is boutique small-group travel in its most literal sense. Ten guests, chosen carefully. Three extraordinary Colombian landscapes. An itinerary built from the inside by a host who grew up here, guided by a commitment to eco-conscious, community-rooted, ethically sourced travel that leaves something of value behind.

How we travel

Boutique by design. Ethical by conviction.

Boutique

Ten guests, chosen carefully. Small enough to go where large groups cannot. Intimate enough to actually know where you are.

Eco-conscious

We work directly with local owners and farm families. Sustainable practices, small footprint, and a commitment to leaving places better than we find them.

Community-rooted

Every vendor, guide, kitchen, and property is Colombian. The money we spend stays in the communities we visit.

Natively guided

Your host was born in Medellín. The access, context, and perspective she offers come from a lifetime of connection to this country and the people who shaped it.

The journey

Three worlds.
Thirteen days.

01
Medellín
Antioquia  ·  Days 1 to 4

The city rebuilt itself in the way cities do when they have no choice, entirely, and with something to prove. Markets older than memory. Cable cars rising above neighborhoods painted floor to ceiling in murals. A botanical garden tended by people who believe a city without green is a city without lungs. We move through it with someone for whom this is home, not destination.

02
Eje Cafetero
Quindío  ·  Days 5 to 8

At altitude, in the department of Quindío, the wax palms grow to heights no palm has any business reaching. The hills are green in the specific way that hills are green when coffee grows on them, dense, layered, alive with birds. A private farm in these hills is the kind of place where sleep is different. Where time slows to something resembling the actual speed of living.

03
Bogotá
Capital  ·  Days 9 to 13

At 2,600 meters, the capital sits above everything. The light there is not the light of other cities. The Museo del Oro holds fifty-five thousand pieces of pre-Columbian gold, the accumulated beauty of civilizations that understood things we are still learning. Below Monserrate the city spreads across the savanna in every direction. Ancient and electric.

¿Qué es la vida? Un frenésí.
¿Qué es la vida? Una ilusión,
una sombra, una ficción.

What is life? A frenzy. What is life? An illusion, a shadow, a fiction.

Your host

Carol Cathey

Medellín born  ·  Bend, Oregon based

I grew up in Medellín. I left, and I carry it the way you carry a language learned before you knew you were learning it. La Vida es Sueño is an invitation into a place I love, shared with people I trust, built on the belief that the best way to understand a country is to be shown it by someone who belongs to it.

Every vendor I recommend, every guide I hire, every restaurant I choose is Colombian. This is ethical travel lived from the inside.
